  • Design and coordinate strategies for access and permanence that guarantee the expansion and sustainability of educational coverage in departmental and private educational institutions.
  • Advance strategies and stimulus programs for the access of the insistent school-age population to the educational system.
  • Design, coordinate and execute strategies and programs for the access of students from educational institutions to higher education.
  • Articulate programs and projects for educational physical infrastructure and school facilities, with the department, the nation and the private sector to improve educational quality levels.
  • Promote the generation of knowledge and learning environments.
  • Promote the realization, adaptation and implementation of learning resources, educational media and pertinent strategies and methodologies for knowledge experiences of the quality of education.
  • Promote the execution of learning processes and the development of their diversity, currency and relevance taking into account the different types of population.
  • Direct, guide and coordinate educational activities for citizens.
  • Support and strengthen the Institutional Educational Projects of the Departmental Educational Institutions, with the updating and articulation of projects in educational quality.
  • Generate agreements with entities specialized in state knowledge tests for the student population from elementary school to eleventh grades, to improve results in education and also their link to professional education.
  • Create alliances with technical, technological and professional education institutions in the region.
  • Contribute and facilitate transportation routes to benefit the student population to the different universities in the region.
  • Contribute to the continuous training in the development of learning strategies for the teaching staff of the public and private sectors.
  • Direct and formulate policies, plans and programs for improvement in education.
  • Support and shield the provision of educational service in the community.
  • Propose the strategies that are necessary to meet the goals set for the sector, in the Development Plan and be part of the evaluation and monitoring.
  • Design strategies to promote the development of higher education, technical education and education for work.
  • Direct, control and administer the resources assigned for the provision of the educational service in accordance with the law, and answer for the timely provision of the corresponding reports.
  • Direct, coordinate and control the administrative, educational and coverage management of research and educational development centers.
  • Lead the formulation of educational quality and management standards in the education sector.
  • Coordinate the inspection and quality surveillance, in the provision of public and private educational service in accordance with the delegations of law.
  • Promote and launch programs to improve the coverage, quality and efficiency of education.
  • Promote, in coordination with the corresponding institutions, the professional development of teachers, teaching managers and educational service administrators.
  • Promote the management and development and pedagogical research, to improve the provision of the educational service in preschool, basic, middle, technical and non-formal education.
  • Coordinate the articulation with different social, productive and cultural sectors, through the definition of joint programs and projects, for the integral educational development of the community.
  • Direct and supervise compliance with legal provisions in educational matters.
  • Provide the required information that must be registered in the Integral Information System of the matters under its charge.
